Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter No. 71

A nonprofit dedicated to the appreciation of Japanese floral art and cultural exchange.

Who We Are

Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter No. 71 is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting Ikebana, the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement, throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

Founded as part of the global Ikebana International community, our chapter unites individuals who share an interest in Japanese culture, aesthetics, and artistic expression. We welcome members of all backgrounds and experience levels—from complete beginners to master-level practitioners.

Our mission is to foster understanding, friendship, and peace through the beauty and discipline of Ikebana.

What Is Ikebana?

Unlike Western floral design, Ikebana is more than simply arranging flowers. It is a disciplined art form that brings together nature, humanity, and space in a thoughtful and often meditative practice. Rooted in centuries-old traditions, Ikebana emphasizes harmony, balance, and the natural beauty of each element—branches, stems, leaves, and blossoms.

Each arrangement tells a story and reflects the season, the artist's spirit, and the moment in time.
